Itinerary

Day 01Arrive Leh by flight.

Best way to reach Leh-Ladakh is by flight from Delhi/Mumbai and all flights reach Leh before noon.

Upon arrival at Leh, you are met and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day free to acclimatize to the high altitude of Ladakh.

In the evening, visit the Leh Market, Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa.

Overnight:  Leh.

Day 02Leh – Lamayuru - Sham Valley (170 Kms | 5-6 hrs approx.)

After breakfast proceed for an excursion to Sham Valley, visit Likir, Alchi Monastery, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Hall of Fame museum.

Likir Gompa: Founded in the 11th century and rededicated to a different monastic order in the 15th century, its earlier Gompa was destroyed in a fire. The present Gompa dated back to the 18th century. Skilled craftsmen producing excellent Thankas, earthen pots and carved wooden folding stools, live here in the village. Majestically situated, Likir commands a spectacular view. A magnificent giant Jupiter tree, one of the few survivors of its species, stands in the courtyard.

Magnetic Hill : Defying the Law of gravity. This place is close to the Gurdwara Shri Patthar Sahib. It has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road the vehicle slides up-hill that’s the Believe it or not of Ladakh!

Gurdwara Shri Patthar Sahib: The Shrine known as Gurdwara Patthar sahib is situated about 25 kms. Short of Leh town on the Leh-Srinagar road. Built in the everlasting memory of Shri Guru Nanak Deve Ji the great prophet who sanctified the place by his sacred visit. The boulder having imprint of the Guru’s back is lying in the Gurdwara to this day.

Lunch en route, post lunch drive to visit the mesmerizing moon like landscapes and the Lamayuru monastery

Lamayuru is famous for its ancient monastery and the surrounding landscape which closely resembles the surface of moon. This is where Ladakh gets its name ‘The Moonland’.

Lamayuru Gompa: The oldest holy site in Ladakh, it was a bon shrine prior to the advent of Buddhism. Also known as Yung Drung (Swastika) it is sited on a high promontory overlooking the village and valley. For sheer spectacle value no other Gompa can match Lamayuru.

Later drive back to Hotel/camp.

Day 03Sham - Leh (70 Kms | 3-4 hrs approx.)

After the Breakfast drive to Leh en route visit Alchi monastery and Hall of Fame.

Alchi Gompa: 70 Kms from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi Gompa dating a thousand years back. One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized images made of clay and painted brightly are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious center, it is looked after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is the only monastery amongst 34 monasteries, which is not located on a hilltop.

Continue your drive to Leh.

Overnight:  Leh.

Day 04Leh - Nubra Valley (128 Kms | 4-5 hrs approx.)

After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla.

Khardungla Pass: The road journey to Nubra valley leads through Khardung La pass (The highest Motorable road in the world) 18,390 ft. around 39 Kms. Away from Leh. There are two checkpoints on both sides of the pass. Khardong is the first village of Nubra valley at higher altitude than Deskit and other villages.

Like the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. The villages are irrigated and fertile. The Shyok River meets the Nubra or Siachan River to form a large valley that separates the Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The Shyok river is a tributary of the Indus river.

On arrival, check in to the hotel / camp.

Later post lunch, enjoy the camel ride (By owns) at Sand Dunes between Deskit & Hundur Village.

Overnight:  Nubra.
Meals:  
Breakfast, Lunch (packed), Dinner.

Day 05Nubra Valley – Pangong Lake via Shyok River Road (150  Kms | 6-7 hrs approx.)

After Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, drive of 6 – 7 Hrs. Arrival at Camp, Later free time at Leisure and enjoy the color changing lake and the sun set on the banks of lake.

Overnight:  Pangong Lake.
Meals:  
Breakfast, Lunch (packed).

Day 06Pangong Lake – Leh (140 Kms| 4-5 hrs approx)

Early morning enjoy the picturesque view of Sun rise on lake. After Breakfast drive back to Leh, enroute visit Thikse Monastery and Shey Palace.

Thiksey Gompa: 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompascontaining images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite.

Shey Palace And Gompa: Situated on a hillock 15 Kms upstream from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family. According to tradition, it was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kinds. A 7.5 mts high copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold and the largest of its kind, is installed here.

Continue your drive to Leh.

Overnight:  Leh.
Meals:  
Breakfast, Lunch (packed), Dinner.

Day 07Depart Leh

Early morning transfer to Leh airport to board flight for onward destination.

Meals:                Breakfast.
